Dudes will watch shit like sailor moon and/or Winx club and be completely fine with the shows as they are but girls will get into something that is aimed at boys/men and act like them not being front and center is blasphemy.
It blows my mind that there are actual living, breathing men who believe comic book movies should never cater to girls and women. Here's me at age 7 and me age 16. Now, it's my full-time job to talk about comic book movies. Gatekeeping will never make sense to me.

Like, is it possible to acknowledge that some things have target demographics? Most action/adventure targets men. Most romance targets women. Some men like romance and some women like action/adventure. It's possible to enjoy while also acknowledging the target audience.

Back in the 80s, we watched GI Joe, Transformers, Jem, and She-Ra back to back and didn't give a fuck 🤷🏽♂️ we just liked cartoons and they were what they were

Power Puff girls, Kim Possible, Life and Times of Juniper Lee, last but not least My Life As A Teenage Robot. They just don’t make them like they used to.

Lego did a study years ago that showed boys are more likely to put themselves in a characters position. Pretend to be Batman… while girls are more likely to make the characters more like themselves. Batman now bakes a cake or plays house.

The one thing I will give to the Brony community, not matter how depraved some of them got, they didn't demand the show change to fit their tastes. They took it as it was, shoved it in a Mason jar, and did unspeakable things to it, but they let them cook.

Only emotionally stunted women captured by ideology feel that way. If a character has traits that reasonate with me and the story is well-written it can be strictly about men and I would still love it.

I don't think this is a "woman" problem, but a cultural problem. Before the internet, you could only watch the shows that were on tv/cable or watch Animal Planet (loved the most eXtreme), so you accepted the show for what they were.
