Trump and advisers calculated that he shouldn’t speak to the nation because he had nothing to say, no tangible policy or action to announce, nor did he feel an urgent motivation to try to bring people together. So he let his tweets speak for themselves.

The president, in consultation with some aides, decided not to give a speech Sunday about the violent protests over what many see as systemic racial injustice by law enforcement.

A real leader would have spoke to the nation by now. Of course Trump has nothing positive to contribute so its probably a good thing he is hiding under his bed #protests2020

No "big government" when it comes to national health care or shutting down har salons. Yes "big government" when it comes to military police shutting down peaceful protests, gassing kids, and targeting journalists. If that's how it's going to work, expect more fires to come.

We are a nation in pain right now, but we must not allow this pain to destroy us. As President, I will help lead this conversation — and more importantly, I will listen, just as I did today visiting the site of last night's protests in Wilmington.

James Scurlock, a 22-year-old Black man, was shot and killed by a white bar owner on Saturday night in Omaha, Nebraska, during a George Floyd protest. Witnesses said the gunman used racial slurs before the shooting. #JamesScurlock

Systemic change requires acknowledgement that the system does not work. Which requires acknowledgement that the system was never designed to work for all. When those who benefit have that moment of honesty perhaps things can begin to change

Those opppsed to this movement know that vandalism will increase police force, so they infiltrated the protests with one goal: wreak havoc and increase the chances of militarization. The camera are watching.
Started recording these white guys who was completely out of place planning to "86 this building" it seemed like an organized burning. They tried to fight. We ran them away. After tonight I am convinced that the fires are largely organized arson #BlackLivesMatters #GeorgeFloyd

This demonstration is being organized by former NBA player Royce White. He’s been organizing mass demos all week in Minneapolis. Thousands of people. Can’t believe that’s not a bigger story in the sports-media world. Helluva lot more compelling than The Last Dance.

If you are in an industry that profits from Black talent, relies on Black labor and/or takes money from Black people and are silent you are the problem. Especially looking at the world of sports and entertainment.....

Public policy alone is not the answer. If only it were that easy
As a society we have some soul searching to do. But the deep injustices we face are not inevitable. They were created and facilitated through racist, hateful, bigoted public policies. That means they can be addressed by different policies—brave, inclusive, moral public policies.
