3. New drugs - SGLT2, GLP1 - are expensive, but likely justified in weight loss, decreased MACE / renal outcomes. Looking forward to more cost effectiveness data.

2. Diabetes care happens 85% in the primary care settings, only 15% w endocrinologists. Endocrinologists and PCPs need stronger communication networks. Specialists have a key role in supporting primary care colleagues with rapid influx of new meds @ProjectECHO is a great example.

1. So much change in diabetes drugs and guidelines recently. This 2003-2016 data doesn’t even capture newest ADA guidelines that recommend SGLT2 / GLP1 RA. Let's repeat based on current 2020 practice. Whats the lag to see guideline uptake in real world practice?.

Dr. Diana Alba, a member of my lab and an endocrinologist @UCSFMedicine @ZSFGCare @UCSFDC, is a 2020 @RWJF Harold Amos Scholar! She represents this program beautifully, and will use it to grow her focus on adipose tissue as a driver of health disparities. Perfect.
