Now this is something.
FL College System presidents say they won't fund any policy or requirement that "compels belief in critical race theory or related concepts such as intersectionality..."
"...or the idea that systems of oppression should be the primary lens through which teaching and learning are analyzed and/or improved upon."
If CRT or related concepts are taught, instruction must include other theories and be "objective."
Interesting that the statement refers to any "practice, policy, or academic requirement that compels belief" in CRT or related concepts.
What are those practices, policies, and requirements? That's unclear from the statement.
Regardless, we'll find out soon.
By February 1, the statement says, the presidents will have "removed any institutional instruction, training, and policies opposed to the forms of discrimination described in this statement."

I have a PhD in education as well as an MAEd and no one has ever once compelled me to believe in any theory. Tell me you have no idea how to be in the classroom without telling me you have no idea how to be in the classroom
@EmmaJanePettit
The only "compelling" I see here is the state compelling us to teach only what they deem acceptable. This statement is in violation of the statement. Very postmodern of them.

Well I am quite sure we don’t have a single class that COMPELS this or any other social science or humanities theory. Hopefully our university presidents are aware of this and will behave accordingly.
