The third graders in Ms. Heena’s class took a deep dive into a math task to determine how many jolly ranchers they could share with 5 friends. So many different ways to show their thinking! @LynbrookES_FCPS

Mrs. Kurtz’s class was eager to share all the fractions they noticed during today’s read aloud. They saw 1/4, 2 halves, and a whole! What are some other fractions you see? @LynbrookES_FCPS

Three great questions to consider when ensuring we provide rigorous instruction to all our students. Amazing read @RavenACompton!!
In this One Thing You Might Try . . . blog post, elementary educator, Raven Compton, invites us to redefine rigor in writing workshop and offers us three critical questions we can ask ourselves when planning for rigorous instruction. #OTYMT @RavenACompton

So much math chatter today playing quick draw! A student re-named the 5 card pile the “panic pile” because he noticed he and his partner kept pulling cards from there when they were stuck and in a panic to keep playing!

Breakfast, morning meeting, and an Etsi mystery this morning! This mathematician revised his thinking and changed his estimate to 22 because “it’s still close to my first guess of 23 and it’s even” @LynbrookES_FCPS

Keep retweeting and sharing this message as much as possible!!
Today's PSA: "Learning Loss" is a made-up construct and only serves to deflate students, educators, and caregivers. It invalidates their hard work and resiliency, ignores all the learning that happened, and adds unnecessary stress. #remotelearning #education

Our 1st and multi-age teams took on partner games today! Some takeaways were that we could use our social distancing strip as a sentence frame and that Treasure Hunt takes a lot of work to play but it is #worthit ! @LynbrookES_FCPS

Kindergarten mathematicians used the bead rack to show and explore different combinations of 5! One student shared that they knew 3 were hiding “because 2+3=5”

❤️”The past yr has not been easy on anyone, & to continually point out what our kids are not learning is to diminish everything they have learned. Maybe they are not on a certain reading level ...or math problem - yet - but they are doing the best they can” https://t.co/NqK37OZQdb
