43 Femicides took place in Ontario since November 2024. These women deserved safety. Their families, friends and communities should not have to bear the unimaginable grief that comes with losing a loved one. #WeCountFemicideBecause

Survivors may not report because the system hasn’t worked for them or others in their communities Many fear they will not be believed or that involving the police may make things worse. When the system’s response is not safe, survivors are left with no choice but to stay silent

Home should mean safety. Last year, 89% of femicides in the province reportedly occurred inside a residence - serving as a reminder that for too many women, girls and gender-diverse individuals in Ontario, home is not a safe place.
