❤️✨ National Wear Red Day✨ ❤️. When I am preparing a funeral I always ask if the person who died had a favourite colour, and then I do my best to wear at least an element of that for their service. Colour really can bring warmth and love to life’s most meaningful moments.

This year has been different. Usually by mid December I have had enough of people in general but this year I prioritised me. I left work and have gone full time self employed. People have been commenting how different I look. That's PEACE my friends. May you all find yours.

Being busy can really help when grieving. Yesterday I wasn't busy & wallowed deeply. Today I had clients to see and errands to run and I've felt great. The important thing is to remember the importance of the sad, slow, wallowing days, but also to know they don't last forever.

I have spent much of the last decade working in the end of life arena. I have accompanied many at their bedside in their final journey. None of this prepared me for the agony of holding my pooch as he died in my arms today. I am a broken person. Animals are so pure. Too pure.

He had a final sniff in the field then we came home and I loved him so hard as he took his final breath in my lap. I am forever changed.

The vet is coming at 2:30. I've got 150 minutes left with him. I am broken.

If you've met him and loved him and want a quiet moment with him to say goodbye, you're welcome to pop round on Sunday. I can't say how long he'll be here after that. My heart is breaking.

My dog is dying. He's been my best friend & companion for almost 13 years. I knew it was coming but the reality hurts like a bitch. We're looking at weeks, but I'm so hypervigilant checking for signs of distress I'm exhausted. I don't want him to hurt but I don't want him to go.
