it’s a shame the mess of a rollout didn’t do this heavenly body of work justice cause upon re-listening ‘brightest blue’ has aged like fine wine and is even better than i remembered honestly. literally a perfect album. no notes

13. brightest blue. and finally the culmination of the journey to the “blue evolution”, love the way this track ties the narrative together perfectly and the song just sounds so cinematic and euphoric. the perfect closing track for the album.

12. flux. a breathtaking track, definitely one of ellie’s best. beautifully written, heartbreaking lyrics and i love her voice sm on this song especially. also one of my fav ellie music videos pretty much every shot could be a wallpaper.

11. bleach. i think this song lowkey aged the best out of the whole album? five years later it’s the most replay-able for me, i adore this vibe of music from her. amazing lyrics and beautiful vocals like the whole album but especially here.

10. wine drunk. literally the best 48 seconds ever. at under a minute it’s still one of the most entrancing songs on the album i can’t help but listen to it over and over again. would love a full length version it’s one of my favs tbh.

9. tides. i love the way this song explodes and contracts, the duality of soft and intense moments and the use of vocal effects it’s a very interesting song even if it’s not a personal fav it’s pure euphoria and a welcome change of pace in the album.

8. woman. upon re-listening this song lowkey sounds better than ever, the minimal production allows one of the purest vocal moments on the album to take centre stage and there’s such beautiful imagery within the lyrics + a magical final chorus.

7. ode to myself. another stunning interlude her vocals are so smooth over this one and such clever lyrics. just ellie’s vocals and guitar is a dreamy combination, would love if it was a full song honestly.

6. new heights. like the most beautiful song ever i would love if eg6 delves more into dreamy r&b as she begins to do masterfully on this album. she can do any genre but i honestly think it might be the best fit for her? the final chorus is unrealll.
