Our paper on monodominant Gilbertiodendron dewevrei forest in the western Congo basin and its floristic and structural differences from mixed forest is now out! 🌱 Huge thanks to the co-authors, and to @wcs_congo and @e3dtp for supporting my fieldwork! Check it out here πŸ‘‡

Wonderful time helping out at @Seawilding’s WildSeas Weekend, displaying some of the PhD work happening at Loch Craignish Great to see people of all ages engrossed in the sounds of seagrass and oyster reefs (and colouring!) We also managed to squeeze in some sunny fieldwork β˜€οΈ

Back from 5 weeks fieldwork in Congo. We were recenusing forest plots in northern Congo following a period of selective logging. Thanks to a brilliant team and to @wcs_congo we collected some great data, and I learned a lot. Here are a few highlights: πŸŒ±β˜€οΈ

Also #smashingstereotypes @EllenHeimpel is currently studying monodominant forests in the Congo Basin. 80% of the trees in certain forests in central Africa belong to one species, Gilbertiodendron dewevrei and predicting their contraction or expansion will be vital in the future.
