The findings:.- Only ~19% of women 40-60 received a menopause diagnosis. - The diagnosed incurred 45% more healthcare costs per year. - For the diagnosed, comorbid conditions (metabolic disorders, hypertension, joint pain) are more prevalent & costly.

It’s a version of a story we hear all too often. With only 20% of OB/GYNs trained in menopause, many women find themselves seeking out multiple providers (neurology, cardiology, psychiatry, etc) who ultimately miss the root cause: menopause.

In case you missed it: Oprah Winfrey got candid earlier this week about her early experience with heart palpitations…and the fact that even after consulting five (five!) doctors, not one made the connection that this symptom was the result of perimenopause.
