He said it in a spiteful tone, meaning that he does NOT want this to be his legacy.
This lines up with my theory that he feels the need to actively push down any goodness left in him. That he NEEDS to be monster. He needs to be the strongest and most evil, and be free again.
For the past weeks I've been working on a 200$ commission written by discord mutual BlackLiquidSorrow. They asked me to recreate a scene from Evangelion for the final page.
This is pretty similar to that old comic I made about about Via hitting Stella, but it's not a sequel.
... WELP. HERE WE GO. This is angsty, and that's not even the part I find saddest in the original script! I needed both pages to show off the argument that led to this. Kinda challenging and it was a bit emotionally rough to draw... yeah.

Blitzo finally starts coming clean and dropping the whole clownish babysitter act. Loona needs to feel understood, while at the same time reassured.

Page 1 of An Alternate Deal, written and commissioned by
@LivesTalos
, is finally here!
Off the bat, we see what's made Stolas reach a breaking point. He can't change his fate, but he won't be leaving without seeking justice somehow...

Page 24 of Dogfight is here. One more page left!
Affection!! This is about as far Loona is comfortable showing gratitude, and Blitzo's starting to get a clue about boundaries.
No prev. link. Once done, I will make a thread of the comic.

More necessary words of reassurance. Loona doesn't want to be treated like she's completely helpless, Blitzo just has to help her in ways that actually matter.

Dogfight 20.
Loona is... a wreck right about now. Pain and alcohol made her too honest. We've started the part of the script I found saddest.
(Updates will be slightly delayed, but I managed to finish this in what I consider record time.)

Hmmm. I think some of us ended up interpreting Blitzo’s speech in Ozzie’s wrong. We assumed he was finally gonna stop letting himself be treated as a bedwarmer, but Blitzo was really just pissed that Stolas tried to act like a romantic couple AFTER the fact.
Page 3 of An Alternate Deal is here.
Stolas reveals whom he wants dead and why. Blitzo learns the futility of his condition just decades after they met.
Wait… so Vassago is a “good boy” according to Viv, and according to lore he’s also a good natured demon in charge of telling past and future events and discovering hidden things. And we see him arguing in a courtroom setting.
Guys, what is he’s Goetia!Phoenix Wright.
Here it is! The first commissioned page of a story requested by
@Drenttzaggett20
about their OC, Harper Goetia, meeting Octavia at a gamestop. Part of a 20-page long script which is being worked on gradually when I'm able to send the invoices.
Pg 1 of "Friend is Foe" based on the s2 previews. That new shark friend of Moxxie's… I can't help but think that he's trouble, especially since Millie is shown slaughtering a bunch of other shark dudes.

Stella was happy to humiliate Stolas until his affair started reflecting poorly on her as a royal wife and it led to her starting to lose her grip on him.
Stop trying to spin Stella not having a tragic backstory as a misogyny issue. How about focusing on characters like Millie, Loona, Octavia, and Verosika instead of trying to excuse/downplay a female abuser?
Now wait a minute. Wasn’t the problem with Viv’s design that he was whitewashed and inaccurate?
Or were you guys just upset that he looked like a gay twink and couldn’t care less if he was another yet equally inaccurate old white guy?
HB didn’t set out to suddenly frame Stolas as an “uwu baby who did nothing wrong” because we saw in Loo Loo Land how his actions affected Octavia. She isn’t written as some kind of spoiled brat to justify siding with Stolas. Her feelings towards the situation are validated.
This fandom was willing to understand Stella’s POV in S1 to explain her actions despite showing no redeeming traits, and yet Loona, who actually did show them, isn’t given the same courtesy.
The fact that no one really questions Striker, Cash, Paimon, or VALENTINO’S villainy is what makes me believe that the the complaints about Stella aren’t *really* about her being one-dimensional. They’re just upset that their “scorned woman” narrative they made up wasn’t true.
The qualities people demanded for Stella, a female character with depth and a sad backstory to explain her violent temper, are actually present in Loona.
However, Loona’s the one being criticized more harshly and viewed as unforgivable.
Imagine portraying an abusive character exactly as abusers usually are (especially from first-hand experience): power-tripping bullies, only to have people complain that they’re too generic and need to be abusive “for a reason.”
As heartwarming as the sentiment is, I don’t think Octavia would be so understanding and open-minded of Stolas and Blitzo’s relationship initially, and maybe not for a good while.
People’s idea of “good SA rep” just means that it, or the assaulter, doesn’t look “sexy.” They actually don’t care about stereotypical depictions and correlating conventional attraction with goodness because they fixate on avoiding “tantalizing” the audience above all else.
Can Hazbins redesigners stop attempting to make Val creepy or “ugly” in their terms he is supposed to be charming, smooth, and good looking. Why. Why is this so hard to understand.
Honestly… certain "fans" really got weirdly overconfident that the story was gonna go THEIR way despite having no evidence to back up their own theories and dismissing all the foreshadowing. Now they're shocked and appalled that the creators didn't read their minds after all.
God, people hyper-focusing on Stolas’ flaws to complain about how the episode made him the victim makes me so angry, as victims are required to be completely innocent and free of sin in order to be validated and taken seriously. Shut. Up.
Still find it weird that people sympathized with Stella being a cheated victim despite seeing no indication that she's actually a tragic figure, but aren't willing to do the same for Loona despite ACTUALLY having a sad backstory. And yeah, a few are the SAME people.
Guys… I think a lot of us have to be prepared for the possibility of Hazbin non-villain fan favorites doing awful things. The ones who *seem* wholesome and noble and heroic? They’re going to make mistakes at *best.* I don’t think it would be out of character to suggest that.
I think some people are missing the point of our concern with the orphanage resembling a dog pound. These are kids being treated like animals, maybe even worse.
