santo vs. black mask (a werewolf who has stolen the costume to try and murder santo with "deadly karate blows") genuinely rules. seven minutes tops but all slugging and cool moves. arguable 1962 MOTY.

as always, "goldberg was limited/didn't do a lot" as a main criticism and not something coming before a "but..." is simply someone telling on themselves as not having actually done the work

this is of course to say nothing about how, in his classic form, he could adjust his kind of match into a bunch of different forms beyond just destroying someone regular style (vs. bigger guy, vs. smaller babyface, vs. saturn/steiner type his size)

there's also a fair chunk of Goldberg matches where he's asked to sell a body part (usually the arm) and genuinely does it very well. he was also a good heel the month he got to do it while hogan/nash were trying to sabotage him in 2000. for a "limited" guy, there's a lot there!
to look at a guy pulling out sambo and kickboxing in his 2 minute squash and not think that theres potential for him to develop further... i dont understand it unless you are hogan and are politically motivated to say "ah hes limited brother."

honorable mention: the time the NWO kidnapped and attacked Flair and left him in a corn field, so he hitched a ride back with a trucker, but commentary had to no-sell non-arena videos so they had no idea why he was messed up, then he got beat up again in the arena
