New Vs. Old. The M6 #IMDBON @MarineInst data buoy was successfully swapped out on the #CE25007 survey. This buoy will be out for 1 year providing essential data for @MetEireann along with 3 subsurface CTD microCATs to 750m depth for #oceanops

📰New research undertaken by @uniofgalway using the Irish National Tide Gauge #INTGN at @portofgalway operated by @MarineInst and 2 of @opwireland gauges in the west of Ireland. Studies like this show the importance this data provides for predictions of future storm impacts.
A research team at University of Galway has revealed that Storm Éowyn generated the highest storm surges ever recorded at key locations on Ireland’s western seaboard. @STEM_Galway Read more:

🌊 #IMDBON buoys: M3 so far has seen the highest max wave heights during #StormÉowyn at 20m. M3 is on the south west coast off Kerry. The other buoys tracking heights of around 15m. We hope you made it through the night ok and monitor @MetEireann warnings. @MarineInst
