Don’t bring your parents or anybody else with you to the interview. To the interviewer, this can show a lack of confidence and maturity. Send a thank-you note and express your enthusiasm for the college. Email is perfectly OK!

Don’t use coarse or vulgar language, curse words, or slang. Don’t look at the time. This conveys the sense that you are bored, uninterested, or eager to depart.

Be yourself! Don’t pretend to be someone other than yourself. Be on time—in fact, show up several minutes early. Don’t chew gum or bring food in with you Don’t bring your phone. Put it away before the interview starts so you are not tempted to look at it.

But you’re limiting yourself if you only consider clubs where you know someone or if you'll only check out a club one of your buddies goes with you. Joining a club is a terrific way to meet new people and make new friends.

Don’t be afraid to join a club even if you don’t know anyone. We've all experienced the discomfort of being the only person who does not seem to know anyone.

Do not sign up for every club that looks interesting! It’s fantastic if you're a curious individual who wants to become involved! However, it’s too much to join every organization that piques your interest. Instead, narrow it down to a 3 that you're truly excited about being in.
