The market gives you thousands of stocks to choose from. But most great portfolios are built from a handful of great decisions held for a very long time. Selection matters. Patience matters more.

A realization I had recently: A lot of investing success comes down to temperament, not intelligence. Many people can analyze a company. Far fewer can hold it through 30–40% drawdowns without panicking.

Would you rather invest $500,000 in a diversified index fund growing 7% per year or risk it all in a startup that could double in 5 years?

Most investors spend their time searching for new ideas. But many great portfolios are built by simply: -Finding a few exceptional businesses -Adding over time -Holding through volatility Sometimes the best strategy is less activity, more conviction.

You can turn $500k into $2M in 6 years with just 2% per month. Small, consistent growth compounds faster than you think.

Simple rule I’m trying to follow more: Spend more time studying businesses and less time watching stock prices. One improves decision making. The other mostly increases stress.

Interesting dynamic in markets: When expectations are extremely high, companies need to be perfect. When expectations are very low, they just need to be less bad than feared. Expectations drive a lot more returns than people realize.

Something I try to remind myself: The market is very good at pricing what is obvious today. The real opportunity is in understanding what might be obvious 3–5 years from now. That’s where patience becomes an edge.

$500k invested at 2% per month β†’ $1M in 3 years. $1M invested at 2% per month β†’ $2M in 3 more years. You can turn $500k into $2M in 6 years with just 2% per month. That’s compounding at work.
