This has now turned into a bit of a tribute account for Tim: a man who inspired so many people, many of whom felt they knew him even though they'd never met. I won't be posting about anything other than Tim from now on. "He was a ray of light on Twitter" is a common message.

I left this site in January this year. I was sad to deactivate my account; I'd met so many great people through this platform, but it just wasn't the same any more. Then I learned that my friend @TimMcKenna01 had taken his life, and I came back so I could tell his followers.

Hi @thetrainline! Why on earth is the icon in your email an aeroplane??! You do train travel. If we are to normalise rail over air travel (which I’m sure you support) we need to start with these subtle messages. Travel doesn’t have to involve a flight.

This seems the best place to ask: would anyone have use for @TimMcKenna01’s panniers? He used a front & back set up and I’m sure he’d like to know they’ve gone to a good home and facilitated someone’s future adventures. We’re not asking for money, just a donation to Mind.

2nd-21st August. Turn up and ride. 50 miles/day with plenty of food/pub stops. Riding the way he did! I’ve planned a route but nothing else - it’s not a supported ride, but a group ride in Tim’s memory. Fundraising for Mind, Sustrans and Flight Free UK.

We are going to do a ride in Tim’s @TimMcKenna01’s memory: Land’s End to John o’ Groats. A ride he would have loved, finishing in his favourite country of all: Scotland. We would love people to join in and ride for a day or two. See for details.

Today we said goodbye to Tim @TimMcKenna01. It was a beautiful service: moving, heartbreaking but also funny. Some of his friends wore his shirts. He would have approved of the spread (especially the whisky). We miss you big man, and can’t believe you’re gone. Rest in peace 🚲 x

The memorial for Tim will be on 14th March at 2.30pm at Great Glen crematorium, Leicester, then afterwards at the Cow and Plough in Stoughton. The service will also be live-streamed at (username: fifi9813, password: 890519).
Remembering @TimMcKenna01 . Many of you will have seen that Tim took his own life earlier this year. The outpouring of shock and sadness was overwhelming, and your comments were very touching – thank you.

His bio said big skies. I hope you’re up there in the big skies now, big man. And I hope that whenever you head out on your bike, you do it with Tim in mind. I know that whenever I get a yellow sticker haul from the supermarket, I will think of him.
