Certain higher education institution types tend to be socially selected. For example, the more research-intensive the HEI (as approximated here by doctoral student enrolment), the higher the proportion of students from well-off and tertiary educated parental backgrounds.

Did you know that 59% of the students in the #EUROSTUDENT countries work during the lecture period, the majority during the whole semester? .The share of working students varies from 28% in 🇦🇿Azerbaijan to 77% in 🇳🇱the Netherlands.

Finding a quiet place to study is most challenging for students living with partner/children (cross-country average 13%). Students who are living in student accommodation or with their parents are a bit less concerned (12%).

On cross-country av., 28% of students in MA programmes have had at least 2 years pass between completing their previous studies and starting the MA programme. The length of the transition period varies depending on the student’s educational background and age.

In 60% of EUROSTUDENT countries, the share of students with (very) serious fin. difficulties has decreased. It might be thanks to improved material well-being or bigger fin. support. Or potential students from low-income families have increasingly given up on taking up studies😟

It's #GirlsInICT Day today!🥳👩‍💻 .Thus, we'd like to emphasize how important it is to encourage girls to pursue a degree in ICTs! .According to the #EUROSTUDENT8 data, on average, the share of female students in the field of ICTs is only 25%. @UN_Women

Across EUROSTUDENT countries, a third of students indicate their families are not well-off. The largest shares of students indicating that their family is not very or not at all well-off can be found in 🇷🇴Romania, 🇮🇪Ireland, 🇫🇷France, 🇵🇹Portugal, and 🇩🇪Germany.

Do you know how many hours per week do student parents spend on childcare? 👶 An average of 21 hours! .In 🇮🇸Iceland, 🇦🇹Austria, 🇸🇰Slovakia, and 🇦🇿Azerbaijan it is even more (30+ hours).

Erasmus+ programme is clearly the most popular organisational framework among students to facilitate a temporary study period abroad (on av., 60% of students opt for it). When it comes to internships abroad, independently organised internships constitute the majority (55%).
