EUROMARFOR IN ATALANTA COMGRUEUROMARFOR, Radm Martinuzzi, receive on board, a visit of military personnel in Djibouti during the logistic stop of the Italian frigate "Emilio Bianchi".

The FCDR and his COS (PRT Navy) were received on board by the CO´s of FS “Dixmude” and FS “Aconit”. The mission combines the end stage of the training course for cadets of the French Naval Academy with an operational presence and engagement deployment.

EUROMARFOR FCDR VISIT TO FS DIXMUDE On February 20th EUROMARFOR FCDR RADM Martinuzzi (ITA Navy) paid a visit to the FS DIXMUDE, that was involve in the French mission  Jeanne d’Arc 2026, deployed in the same area of ATALANTA.

EUROMARFOR was invited to participate, and it has been a great opportunity exchange information and share experiences and operative proposals. The main goal was to highlight that all our effort is focus on the protection of our citizens, our seas and our common future.

EU OPERATIONAL NAVAL COMMANDERS MEETING On February 25 EU Operational Naval Commanders meet for the first time in Rome. This meeting involve the three main naval missions sea under EUNAVFOR (IRINI, ATALANTA and ASPIDES), being part of the EU Security and Defense Policy.

The training included communications checks, a firing exercise, electronic warfare exercises, communications exercises, Link-11 tactical communications procedures, establishment of a Link-11 network during the PASSEX, cross-deck personnel exchanges and evolution exercises.

The last 7th March, ESPS “Furor” and FS “Commandant Bouan”,  had the opportunity to cooperate closely, contributing to joint training and reinforcing cooperation between our navies in support of European maritime security initiatives in East Africa.

EUROMARFOR IS ACTIVATED FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR IN GULF OF GUINEA.

Until the end of this rotation, EUROMARFOR will contribute to safeguard area stability, prevent, deter and repress piracy, protect UN World Food Programme vessels, and prevent arms, drugs or other illicit trafficking.

This operation is being developed on board the Italian Frigate BIANCHI and the Spanish frigate CANARIAS under the command of a multinational staff leaded by Italy with Rear Admiral Daniele Martinuzzy.

EUROMARFOR has been activated in support of operation EUNAVFOR ATALANTA, on its 52st rotation, it is the fourth consecutive activation that shows the close cooperation and mutual understanding between the EUROPEAN UNION and EUROMARFOR.

The meeting allowed the Commanders to exchange strategic and operational points of view, aiming at fostering Forces’ readiness and interoperability. EUROMARFOR is strongly committed to enhance maritime security.

On November 27th, COMEUROMARFOR VICE-ADMIRAL José Rafael Salvado de Figueiredo, attended the annual EU Commanders’ Conference, organized by the European Union Military Staff and hosted in the Multinational Joint Headquarters Ulm, Germany.

EMF will continue working to further develop the interoperability among units and personnel thus ensuring the maritime security through an high level of info sharing among the EMF Navies operational HQs as well as an endless cooperation with other international organizations.

A particular focus was on the incoming activations for the current year as well as the Activity Plan 2026 – 2028, that aims at developing an strong presence in the Wider Mediterranean Sea.

The meeting, chaired by the Italian Navy as secretariat nation and hosted by the Portuguese navy, focused on the outcomes of the last 6 months activities and on the upcoming activations that will take place during the Portuguese Command (2025-2027).

It is in charge of Force’s technical and planning issues and conducts studies on training and operational topics, thus helping to support the decision-making process of the EMF Political Military Working Group (POLMIL WG).

The last EUROMARFOR Sub-working Group meeting of the year took place on 26th and 27th of November at the “Portuguese General Staff” in Lisbon, attended by both representatives of the EMF Member nations Naval Staffs and the EMF Permanent Cell.

The objective of the exercise is to promote and enhance strong cooperation between EUROMARFOR Maritime Operations Centers, sharing information focused on maritime environment, while considering international security challenges, assuring a common Maritime Situational Awareness.

On 18th November, EUROMARFOR participated in exercise SEA BIT 25-1. This is an exercise planned and conducted by EUROMARFOR as part of its training program for the Maritime Operations Centre of the four navies (France, Italy, Portugal and Spain), which first edition was in 2018.
