While some EU regions have relatively high protection levels, they still experience very high combined tourism pressures. In Eastern and Southern Mediterranean countries, low protection levels make these regions extremely vulnerable, even if tourism pressures are not yet high.

Regions with high tourism pressure and low protection levels are especially vulnerable. This includes areas like the Spanish regions of Cadiz and Malaga, the Turkish provinces of Antalya and Hatay, as well as Girona, Menorca, the Annaba Province in Algeria, and Trieste in Italy.
