Today SEDEC adopted the EU Startup & Scaleup Strategy opinion I pushed for a strategy that works for all regions: rural, peripheral, mountainous and for young people, including those from minority communities Less bureaucracy, fair access to skills, balanced investment @EU_CoR

Erasmus+ in the next #MFF must not only be bigger on paper, it must be truly accessible for our small schools, VET centres and youth NGOs in remote areas. Today, procedures are too complex, travel is too expensive, and information often does not reach us in time. @borbolycsaba

Erasmus+ is more than mobility – it’s an investment in skills, inclusion & peace for the next generation. It is vital for our youth, regions & the fight against depopulation. 🇪🇺can’t deliver on its ambitions without strong local & regional authorities at its core. @roberto_pella

Regions & cities are not just “end users” of EU rules. We do market surveillance, public procurement, crisis management, and work with customs & tax authorities every day. The new Programme must treat LRAs as partners, not afterthoughts. @EmmaBlain

In Valencia, we host a diverse and dynamic chemical ecosystem, from polymers and fertilisers to pharmaceuticals. By working together, we can turn this Action Plan into concrete projects, new investments and quality jobs in our territories. @BrosetaPablo

The chemical sector is the industry of industries. Without it, there are no microchips, fertilisers, wind turbines or solar panels. Europe cannot afford to manage a slow decline – we must shape a new industrial future, together and from the bottom up. @frederiekMLR

With technical and financial assistance from the EU and international partners, Moldova must continue to enact reforms and take measures to further build administrative capacity, allowing for the more efficient implementation of EU projects. @teban_adrian

@OGeblewicz @borbolycsaba @sarirautio Peripheral regions are always the first to suffer from poorly designed or overly centralised systems. The criteria for classifying regions must be precise, transparent and fair – otherwise we risk deepening, not reducing, territorial disparities. @mcuip

@OGeblewicz “We can no longer accept a model where we are simply notified once decisions are taken. If local and regional authorities deliver on the ground, they must also be present when the rules are written.” @borbolycsaba

LRAs have always been the strongest supporters of the European project. No national or regional plan should be adopted without the clear green light of those authorities in every Member State. That is the only way to protect both cohesion and democracy. @OGeblewicz

The next EU budget is not just about figures, it is about democracy, security and trust. The MFF must be ambitious and flexible enough to respond to crises, but it cannot do so by centralising power in Brussels or weakening cohesion. @sarirautio

@PiotrCalbecki Congratulations to @radim_srsen on being appointed rapporteur for Future of Rural Development 2028+. Rural areas are the backbone of Europe – this opinion is a chance to move beyond fragmented policies towards a long-term, place-based vision for our rural communities.

Agriculture looks different across the EU depending on soil, climate, and geography. We must not merge cohesion policy with the CAP or the Common Fisheries Policy; they are distinct for good reasons and serve fundamentally different purposes. @PiotrCalbecki

Today in @EU_CoR NAT @sarirautio underlined that regions and cities must be at the table in the #MFF debate. “Do no harm to cohesion” must guide every EU decision, with predictable funding and real partnership. Stronger regions mean a stronger Europe. #CohesionPolicy

@EU_CoR @sarirautio Excellent dialogue on the #FutureofCohesionPolicy! The debate on the next MFF is about the kind of Union we build. Cohesion must be universal and a permanent investment. Let's defend a strong, modern Cohesion Policy for 2028–2034! @sarirautio

@EU_CoR @sarirautio For a better future EU: 1️⃣ Strong, ring-fenced Cohesion budget. 2️⃣ Simplified, predictable 2028-2034 framework. 3️⃣ Better coordination with new funds (like NRPP) 4️⃣ Full respect for partnership & multilevel governance. Cohesion is about trust & tangible integration. @sarirautio

🇪🇺 Cohesion Policy must remain at the heart of the EU budget, not an adjustment variable. As @EU_CoR rapporteur on the future #MFF, I stressed that shared-management is key to local ownership & accountability. Future MFF must deliver on cohesion's promise! @sarirautio

Water resilience doesn’t start in Brussels – it starts in our towns, cities and regions. - this was todays topic in Harghita County with @borbolycsaba and @CoR_President
“Water resilience doesn’t start in Brussels – it starts here.” Today in Harghita County we discussed how mountain regions can adapt to climate change and protect their water resources. Kata Tüttő, President of @EU_CoR will take our proposals to the EU level The time to act is now

@sarirautio @MartensCentre @trzaskowski_ @KBakoyannis @mmarkkula Wrapping up today’s panel on the EU’s climate targets: our message is clear — Europe will only deliver on climate if cities and regions are treated as real partners, backed by a predictable, people-centred EU budget that boosts competitiveness and security. 🌍🏙️
