For March is Reading Month, cartoonist Duane M. Abel, who created the cartoon ZED, visited Laker Elementary to conduct a fun assembly called "Draw Your Destiny." As he drew several cartoon figures, he talked about goal setting, the power of reading, and the value of education.

Fraction fun - Laker 6th-graders used colorful manipulatives to create equal fractions in math class. They kept track of the fractions they created on a white board so teacher Mrs. Mossner could check their progress. #epbplakers

What can you learn about science from a dice game? Well, 6th-graders learned the basics about the scientific method by playing a Polar Bear Dice Game, led by teacher Jamie Schaefer. The game dealt with bears, fish, and how they correlated to the dots on the dice. #epbplakers
