I truly wouldn't have made it through the past 5 years without strangers on Twitter and their support. Thankyou I'm in Australia now, healing slowly. 6 months into a 1 year ED job. And... I got BOTH jobs I applied for next year :) NT and Sunny Coast Crit Care

Got my bloods done today...then called into work for overtime as understaffed. It's no fun being on both sides. HR 100-130 at rest with palpitations & pressure often for a few hrs at a time . Going on for months. FINALLY got my ass to phleb for baseline bloods. Wtf, body?

I still think it's normal to go 10-12 hours without eating. Here in Australia...it's not. My colleagues encourage me to take my breaks. My hospital has coffee and milk and people leave fruit from their gardens in the staffroom In the UK I had to hide my WATER.

I still jump when someone asks to speak to me, thinking I'm in trouble for something I know nothing about .

If you think UK docs are asking too much... I qualified in 2020. Now in Aus, I still occasionally have nightmares about walking past old people screaming for help ... Why? I was responsible for 120 single rooms- someone else needed an ECG. < Β£15ph. What's trauma worth?

Help me out. Went to juniors ECG teaching and my poor dyslexic brain melted. It's been...so long... But why, dear God why: Is the PR interval ending where the QRS internal begins? Surely that makes it the...PQ interval?

Holy shit. There's a typist at my cultural capability training... Turns out the INTERNS dictate and have their letters typed?! No wonder they actually learn some medicine. Honestly, NHS.

So I have been in Australia for 5 months, working in ED for 4 months. Happily being swapped from PHO to SHO now. And I have ....ONE DAY to apply to next year's Feb jobs?! "What term do you wanna start" I don't even know what that means...??!!

Tonight involved a lot of add-on CRP. When do you do a CRP in ED? I was always taught 1. It's late to the party. 2. It's usefulness is largely over time not as a singular number. So I rarely order a CRP in ED. I look at story+obs+wcc . Fill me with your opinions!

This is... Absurd. Help a baby ED doc out... What's your ED approach to D-dimers? CTPAs?

What did I learn tonight? Man..I dunno. That EVERYONE has a different idea of when to do a d dimer and when to do a CTPA. And I find this EXTREMELY AGGRAVATING. Wells? Geneva? Another flowchart I've never seen before? How do your EDs manage D-dimers & CTPAs?

Reason 125627 why I'm glad I left. Just wish I'd done it sooner. 2020 grad LTFT so finished FY 2023... even locum jobs were impossible. Why? Well every Dr who didn't get into training....still needed a job! Would love to see application to post # graph for FY3 jobs...
UK is facing a critical failure in medical workforce planning Thousands of doctors are trapped in a bottleneck, blocked from progressing due to a shortage of training posts A crisis that was foreseeable and entirely preventable @wesstreeting @NHSE_WTE

I've tonight tabled a Parliamentary Motion on Israelβs seizure of the Gaza flotilla The world should not stand by while Israel rips-up international law & denies Palestinians humanitarian aid. Around 40 MPs have already signed. More will in the coming days. Ask your MP to sign.

Nice to have data but pretty sure every healthworker knew this instinctually. 80 yr old woman " heres my meds and notebook, doctors numbers in there dear", also looking after disabled 55 yr old son 70yr old man - almost any health question. " I don't know, ask my wife"
Men need women more than women need men when it comes to health outcomes. For example, never-married men have a 31% higher risk of stroke mortality and 9% higher all-cause mortality than their female counterparts.

I... Have shut my stethoscope in the car door Looks like a roadkill bunny... What do I buy? I work in ED and see lots of kids. I honestly often struggled to hear properly with my 10 yr old Littman 2. I have budget++, but I am NOT careful with my things. Suggestions?!
