Lieutenant Tate's distinguished career continued in 2005 when he accepted the role of Recruit Training Coordinator at the Ocean County Police Academy. Lieutenant Tate was a mentor to many in law enforcement. He helped many individuals become effective, productive police officers.

The East Brunswick Police Department is saddened by the passing of retired Lieutenant John Tate, who served the Seaside Heights Police Department for 25 years before retiring in 2003. We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
