Household energy debt continues to climb, now over £4bn. Jan-March 2025 added over £300million to the mountain. A proper solution is needed to reduce this debt and reduce the cause of it, high energy prices. Warm words don't heat homes. #SocialTariff #FuelPoverty

Expecting a new meter to be installed? Protect yourself from billing issues and remember to take a photo of your old meter reading before it is removed and your new meter reading once it is installed 🤳🧾💷.

The radio teleswitch off is happening in phases. It’s vital to contact your energy supplier now to arrange for a new meter to be installed to protect your household from unplanned peak billing, loss of heat or hot water 💸🛀🏽.

Submit meter readings ahead of a further hike in gas/electricity prices from 1 July. For those on default tariffs who are required to submit manual readings it is worth doing this on the 1st. Energy costs are no joke. Don't risk being overcharged. #BigMeterRead

Our members shared some of their concerns about the Radio Teleswitch switch-off last year: . Worryingly, insufficient progress has been made & about 100k households will not have been upgraded by the deadline at the end of June.

People on non-means tested benefits don't get it, carers, attendance allowance etc. People that need a more help. Debt is continuing to grow, support is not.

£150, it has increased by £10 in a decade whilst energy prices are about 50% higher and average bills somewhere in the region of £500 more. This isn't a generous payment, a lifeline of sorts, yes but it buys a lot less energy.

Warm Home Discount being expanded to more people is a good thing. But let's not get carried away. £150 is an insufficient payment to those that need it, expansion means everyone paying a bit more but that reduces the net value of the payment to those that get it.

Far to much uncertainty facing households with RTS controlled heating. 10yrs in the making yet 11th hour crisis. Rapidly becoming a public health & safety issue.

At current rates of meter upgrade for RTS dependent households there will be approx 100k left at end June in Scotland, the deadline for changes. Important that people request upgrades. It is possible that the highest level of protection will only be afforded to those that do.

We support @ScotGovNetZero in its call for urgent action on the switch off of the signal that controls heating/hot water for over 100k households in Scotland. Deadline for meter upgrades is end June but signs are this will not be met. Huge uncertainty for those left behind!.

Winter Fuel Payment/Pension Age Winter Heating Payment is not a generous payment. It hasn't increased in 20yrs, it buys far less energy than it did when introduced. A social tariff/discount is desperately needed to address affordability.
