I promised I would do this at some point, and apparently right now is "some point." Here's a thread of some books on football that have taught me a lot about the game, both in terms of scheme & history.
Doubs has been working as the furthest man back in the Victory Formation lately, and I love the energy. He kneels at the same time as the QB, then gives a little dance.
Matt LaFleur says he texted Jordan Love this morning saying he wanted to change the first play.
Love responded saying he wanted to keep it. Hit Christian Watson for 53 to set the tone and the Packers never trailed.
After the FG, Crosby curls around the end. Bradley [43] keeping an eye out. They make eye contact, give waves, then Bradley gives the point. Nice boost to complete the Leap.
Keep an eye on JK Scott. Leaps in a different spot. Props to the fan seeing him mid-jump. Nice adjustment.
I made a terrible mistake Tuesday with my Aaron Rodgers comments. It was completely my fault. There is no one else to blame, and I am here to try and apologize.
My column is unlocked and free for all to read here:
Hey! I found a cleaner version of the original play! In this version, you can actually see Cris Carter dying a little inside. Maybe more than a little. Probably a lot.
"Aaron Rodgers has been a very selfish guy. ... I go back to personal experiences. His words to me were, 'don't be that guy.' All of a sudden, it's about the money."

on reports that Rodgers wants to be NFL's highest-paid player:
This dude played a very good game yesterday. And yet, while he was dialed in, he still remembered the exact number of fans they showed on the Jumbotron.
Mini Rodgers thread. Let's call it a best of. I think all of these appear in my less-than-organized main Rodgers thread, but we'll run it back.

Turned on NFL Network to find Packers/Bears from 2018. Packers are currently down 10-0 with about 5 minutes left in the first half. Kizer is in. Sure hope this ends well.
Per PFF, Cousins was under pressure on 17 drop backs (47%). You know how many times the Packers blitzed?
Once. A single time. As the season has gone on, the Packers have been killing teams with the ability to generate pressure with 3 or 4 rushers.
I swear Collinsworth won't be completely satisfied with this game unless there is a public beheading on the field.
[Chuckles] "I tell ya Al, that's just Ravens/Steelers football."
So many great moments from this past weekend, but the 49ers attempting to ice Mason Crosby, only to have him smirk and drive a nail into their hearts was just pure and utter perfection.

yesterday, Rodgers talked about the route adjustment he made on the long TD to Adams. I thought it might be fun to take that audio and run portions of it under the play, to give a clearer picture of what he was seeing and why it worked.
Looking at some 49ers stuff at Football Outsiders.
On defense, they’re 16th against the pass.
When defending a teams

WR? 31st in the league, giving up an average of 88.1 YPG.

Rodgers' ability to throw off-platform is still just so insane. He's looking left at a fade/crosser combo, then comes back to EQ after the safety commits. He doesn't have to reset his feet, which is HUGE with the rush coming through. Just opens his hips & flips to the right.
If the Packers feel Jordan Love is good enough to start, he needs to be the guy.
This is absolutely zero knock on Rodgers - who I still believe can play at a high level - but the Packers need to make a decision.
Finally getting a chance to go through the

and I swear Christian Watson is open on every single play. Just an absolutely insane talent with so much nuance in his game already. Can't wait to watch him every week.
Soooooo many moving pieces. His legs go one way, his body another and his head another. There's no mystery why it was extremely difficult to line him up for a solid tackle.
If those Last Dance pictures mean what it looks like they mean, the Packers better damn sure win the Super Bowl or they’ll be memed into the lowest levels of Hell.
When asked about the Packers offense in 2023 - and Love's hand in it - I always think of 3 plays from the Eagles game that Love played in. All 3 with the same core concept. So let's just do a short thread.
Saw someone on this app talking about how "Super Bowl champs don't lose games this badly."
In 2018, the Patriots had an 11 point loss in Week 2 to the Jags, then followed that up with a Week 3 loss to the Lions. Then they got HOUSED by 24 points to the Titans in Week 10.
I know everyone is freaking out a bit about the Packers struggles from the 1 yard line, but they are currently scoring TDs on 68.4% of their trips to the red zone, which is 5th in the league.
The one really great thing about the Preston Smith restructure is that they can let King walk & still have a CB across from Jaire who has some experience.
