@Cernovich ZIRP had alot more to do with it than the tax code. If Blackrock couldn't borrow $100B at 3% & buy income assets yielding 6%, they'd never have gotten into the single family rental arena. Large asset managers have been starved for yield since 2008 & have been forced to go further…

Don’t blame Blackrock for the housing crisis, blame the tax code. The minute you start making cash, your CPA (if he or she is any good) will tell you to lever up, 1031, cost-seg, front load depreciation, and all that mumbo jumbo. Tax code forces people to buy too much property.
