The Handkerchief Tree near the watermill was reputed to have been smuggled to Dunster by the lady of the house, Alys Luttrell. In spring the flowers make the tree look like it's covered in handkerchiefs, but at this time of year it's covered in these impressive seeds.

Flour milled at Dunster's Working Watermill is available to buy at the watermill and Stables Shop. Choose from wheat, spelt and rye flour and take a bit of Dunster home with you to make some delicious bakes.

Gunnera grows by the River Avill in the river gardens, dappling the water with shade. This giant plant is an ancient species, with gunnera found in fossils that are around 90 million years old.
