Dune: Part Two is perfection. Director Denis Villeneuve has pulled off what some felt to be impossible: creating two great films out of my grandfather’s densely woven science fiction story. Congratulations everyone! 10/10. — Byron Merritt, Grandson of Frank Herbert
Today is very notable for Dune and the Herbert family. Because today would've been Beverly Herbert's birthday. She was Frank Herbert's wife, sounding board and editor. And Dune would not be what it is today without this amazing woman. Let's all take a moment to thank her.
While we await some Dune News, today we have to wish Beverly Herbert (posthumously) a happy birthday, and thank her for her contributions to Dune (and other Frank Herbert works). A truly amazing woman.
This coming Saturday (October 8th) will be Frank Herbert’s birthday (posthumously). The Dune author would’ve been 102 years old. So let’s celebrate and make this our own “Today In History” day. For us, October 8th will always officially be Frank Herbert Day.
Looking at all of Denis Villeneuve’s films, I have found that all of them (without exception) get better and better upon subsequent viewings. Indeed, sometimes this is almost mandatory in order to pick up on everything he’s trying to show us. Has anyone else had this experience?
Formal announcement of the next DUNE novel from Tor Books. PRINCESS OF DUNE will tell the intertwined backstories of two of the most important women in the life of Paul Muad’Dib—Princess Irulan and Chani. Expected publication date is November 2023.
Thank you to all of the Dune fans (new and old) who made yesterday's trailer release amazingly successful. We couldn't have done it without you.

"On this day, we commence filming Dune: The Sisterhood for HBO Max. Through machinations taking place millennia before the story you all know, we descend into the coven that one day shall be named the Bene Gesserit." -

Happy “celestial” birthday to our favorite author. Frank Herbert would’ve been 100 years old today. His family, friends and fans from around the world send him our love and thanks for being an incredible human being, and the amazing writer of the Dune series (and others).
"I always envisioned three movies... Dune is a huge story. In order to honor it, I think you would need at least three movies. That would be the dream. To follow Paul Atreides and his full arc would be nice." - Director Denis Villeneuve
It is a great time to be a Dune fan (old or new). So many things going on “behind-the-scenes” that we can’t yet discuss. But there is so much more coming your way!

It is very exciting to see Frank Herbert’s 54-year-old DUNE novel hitting the bestseller lists again. A big “thank you” to fans new and old for making this happen (

In addition to cast and crew, there were other “people” hanging around that Frank Herbert’s great grandson sidled up to.

As we celebrate Frank Herbert’s 102nd birthday, we also celebrate his continuing legacy to science fiction as we prepare to expand Dune to TV audiences with Dune: The Sisterhood based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.
From Brian Herbert today:
“I’m pleased to report that Kevin and I have seen the latest draft of the DUNE screenplay, and it is so good that we made very few comments to Legendary about it. The screenplay has...
Is anyone familiar with any other films where the critics reviews and the audience score are so close (within 1% or less)? They may be out there, but just curious how common it is.
WINNER: Dune, screenplay by Jon Spaihts, Denis Villeneuve, and Eric Roth; directed by Denis Villeneuve; based on the novel Dune by Frank Herbert (Warner Bros / Legendary Entertainment).
Love this quote.
“All governments suffer a recurring problem: Power attracts pathological personalities. It is not that power corrupts but that it is magnetic to the corruptible.”
