He’d probably choose Zoey and Louis, — obviously, but revealing Francis abandoned his friends in the past would add weight and context to this hypothetical scenario that only exists in my head.

And his friends refused — committed to staying in the clubhouse. All of this to say it would have been a good reveal in a later story, had the plot kept going. Like, say they meet the Angels of Death, and Francis has to choose between them or Zoey and Louis.

The way he shrugs them off and avoids outright confirming what happened to them leads me to speculate this as the case. Maybe he saw Bill’s team from the roof, noticed how effective they were, then decided to join. Not really to help them, but to help himself.

I think they were carriers. I mean, everyone around them turned but they didn’t. The first guesses are they were mauled to death, or the virus turned them slowly, but I’d suggest a more relevant outcome. Francis left them for dead, and doesn’t know their fates either.

In The Sacrifice comic, Bill, Zoey, and Louis end their flashbacks completely alone. It’s easy to imagine how and why they’d team up from there. But Francis’ flashback seems like the most enigmatic to me, leaving the question of what exactly happened to his friends. (1/5)
