Happy Chinese new year!🧧. Students snarfed up the catered dumplings and seasonal sweet treats. The "raw pu-erh" tea was a hit, as were Lay's cumin lamb potato chips.😳

On Dec 14, 2024, we celebrated 20 years of our Medical Physics Program with a Gala! 300+ guests, including ~100 alumni, joined for reflections, inspiring speeches, a group photo, and celebrations. Special thanks to Drs. Oldham, Willett, Paulson, Samei, Dobbins & Baranova! 🥂✨

Well done on defending your PhD thesis, Zachary Gude, PhD (Advisors: Joel Greenberg, PhD, Anuj Kapadia, PhD, Dean Darnell, PhD), on December 13, 2024, titled: “Spatial and Material Resolution of Coded-Aperture based Volumetric X-ray Diffraction Imaging for Biomedical Applications

After the ceremony, there was more mingling and dancing with alumni DJ, followed by after party off campus. Thanks to the organizers, all our guests, and especially 100 alumni who heard the call to "come home" to celebrate!. Official pics and coverage coming soon! 🔚.

Guests had fun with the photo booth. First pic shows our program manager Olga Baranova; the event also celebrated her retirement after serving for all 20 years of the program's history. We will miss you!

At the end of the ceremony, our intrepid photographer Beth climbs a 20 ft ladder to get the group shot of the hundreds of people. Hotel staff helped to stabilize the ladder. Official version coming soon, here's again just a teaser.

The party then moved into the huge ballroom. For dinner, guests are seated at 35 tables. On stage, students managed the raffle, 1 prize for each of our 20 years. We didn't capture the hilarious moment when the raffle drum burst open and spilled tickets all over the stage!

Meanwhile hidden in the ballroom, a surprise musical act rushes through a rehearsal. Band leaders @EhsanSamei @anuj_kapadia were joined by 2 alumni, and a current student!

We began with a welcome reception in the lobby with jazz band, 2 bars, appetizers, and lots of laughter.
