“Here at Pastor Billy Bob’s-by-the-Buffalo Wild Wings, we’re just like the early Church! Sacraments? Never heard of them. We do have a smoke machine and TWO bassists in our worship band, though!”

Anglicanism being a big tent that’s kind of a middle ground between Catholicism and other Protestants is super interesting to me

I am so drowsy, but my stomach hurts too much to have some coffee. Lovely way to feel on the first workday of the year 🫠

I took that denomination quiz for fun, and it said I most align with Anglicanism/The Episcopal Church and the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod. I adhere to "zero historical heresies" and am "moderately conservative" and "moderately high church".

This is not an attack on these denominations, nor on anybody who follows them. But this is just the general impressions I currently have of some things about them that don't make sense to me.

And nondenominational churches are all essentially their own denomination each, with their theology being whatever the pastor believes. And how can I know if he's correct or an outright heretic? There are no authorities, like bishops or elders, to correct him if he's wrong.

Episcopalians and Methodists in have gotten extremely liberal, and many parishes are proud to openly disobey the Bible. Baptists put way too little emphasis on the sacraments that the Church Fathers all agreed are important to Christian life, such as the Eucharist.

Quick summary: Catholicism has too many "infallible" Councils that contradict each other. Orthodoxy's obsession with hating the filioque is bizarre to a degree I find unsettling. Presbyterians believe in predestination, which contradicts the free will that the Bible talks about.
I find Christianity interesting, but there are just so many logical inconsistencies within each denomination, and often even more in nondenominational Christianity.
