As I near completion of this robot project I realize it might have been easier to spend a few days at the start and design a whole PCB that simplifies the wiring. It's so tempting to redo all of it but that would be pretty dumb at this point.

Got the vinyl cutter out for the first time in a couple years at the request of my wife to add some color to her car (as seen on Aging Wheels 😀). Yes, I realize it looks even more like a toy now. Kinda the point.

LightBurn Software is looking to hire a developer with strong experience in *both* C++ and native desktop UI development. We use Qt, but knowledge of any native UI toolkit is valid. Just not web-based like Electron or similar. Hit me up if interested or know someone who might be.

Hive mind request: I need a quality *printable* model of an Airbus A380 w/ original CAD files. NOT STL. I will need to tweak it no matter what and every non-STL file I find is really only designed for renders and are a bitch to work with / make solid. Willing to pay for it.

Just a general fuck you to @Apple for making it SO fucking hard to have a shared Apple ID account, for the sake of shared resources within a dev team. The phone number requirement for 2FA is fucking infuriating.

Funny to see where people's focus lies in a design. In the build I'm doing now:.- Printed part is a "press fit" over a bolt head that's 9.8mm. Modeled hole is 10.5mm.- Machined aluminum parts are to such tight tolerance that I have to freeze the part and heat bearings to fit.

Me every time I'm trying to find a CAD model of a device so I can make an accessory for it only to find a forum post to the effect of "Here's an STL of the model I made" 🤦

For those not directly familiar with the Pronterface UI, the X,Y, and Z move increments are normally what you see in the screenshot times 10. Literally all I changed was to drop the normal intervals by an order of magnitude.

Since I saw @Killercds mention Pronterface wouldn't do < 0.1mm movement while using the @emberprototypes CXC, I decided to whip up a modified version. Win and Mac builds at the link. See code for running from Linux (it's typical python stuff).

While I'm sure it will still make people mad, I'm super impressed by @BambulabGlobal 's response to the X1plus firmware. I've voided many a warranty in my day and was never delusional enough to expect the company to still support it after.

Well, that's a fun one I've never seen before. happened to be watching as my @BambulabGlobal X1C was doing the initial filament purge and it simply pushed out the nozzle tip and flushed it right out the filament poop chute 🤯
