Utterly and unforgivably shameful, we will be directly contributing to Israel's genocide of Palestinians by starvation by withholding funding to UNRWA. No more aid for UN aid agency until Peters satisfied, Luxon

Just our usual reminder that yes, in fact, "hate speech" is protected by the First Amendment.

You'd think it would be hard to hide three children in NZ but these siblings have been gone more than 500 days. Call 0800 111 555 if you know whose helping them stay missing.

When you have to get permission to protest peacefully in the streets from those who would silence you it’s a little weird don’t you think?
They go by 'Knitting Nanas', a peaceful group today protecting the right to protest. They argue the new laws introduced in the Crimes Act are too ambiguous - and they don't feel they can safely protest without being arrested. https://t.co/TWh1KQh9q4

This dynamic is the opposite of what happens in conventional non disruptive protest. Nobody necessarily actively despises you, but also nobody cares about your issue. It's a binary between personally hated but effective vs personally indifferent and ineffective.

I also return time and again to the question, what the hell did people think would happen? If you accept the underlying climate science, did you really think everyone would just sleepwalk towards catastrophe with no one willing to go to extreme lengths to try and change things?

All the proponents of gun control in the US just don't get it. They need more guns not less. Every child at school should be issued with their own weapon. 30 six year olds with AR15s would absolutely stop a school shooter.

A spider is no better or worse than the fly it eats. Nor is a person who kills than the one they kill until we judge them by the moral framework we accept as the governing force that compels us to embrace or repel the behaviours or character of those around us

There's literally an amazing locally owned video store like a mile down the street from my job with an intensely curated selection that has a bar and coffee shop. It also hosts regular screenings and live music.

While listening to a podcast about AI’s potential to end human life as we know it and regulator’s reluctance to slow down the pace at all I realised what we need to get AI to do is a drag show for kids and it would be banned forever
