🔬 AI and Patient Safety.We leveraged a known design flaw in a publicly-available #AI segmentation algorithm where the AI will label two vertebral bodies the same (in patient’s with an extra vertebra) or label the same vertebral body twice (in patient’s with one fewer.

Why AI in #Medical QA?.Human beings aren’t built to easily find and detect rare errors. It’s the classic needle in the haystack problem then compounded with satisfaction of search bias. In comparison, computers and AI are ideally suited to help highlight these errors since.
