@linseypop Nothing to do with supporting him. It's to do with all those who have spent weeks on ITU & woken up unable to speak, sit up, walk, with a year of recovery ahead of them. To suggest you can come back from nearly dying of #covid19 to full health in weeks is nonsense & v unhelpful

Iโ€™m actually appalled by what Sarah Jarvis has just said about Boris Johnson on #JeremyVine ! Whether you support the guy or not, underplaying his experience with covid-19 because she cleary doesnโ€™t like the guy is quite disgraceful considering sheโ€™s a doctor.

@anthonylooskan @linseypop Actually, I've voted pretty much everything in my time & have never been a steadfast supporter of one party. It's his handling of the pandemic that has really got me going

@DrSarahJarvis @linseypop Maybe useful to compare the severity of Michael Rosenโ€™s COVID-19 experience compared to Boris Johnsonโ€™s. Huge difference.

@AngelaGJones4 @linseypop Indeed - and many others. We keep talking about deaths from #Covid19UK and forget the burden on many who have survived, including those ventilated & those left with #MECFS . It's essential we don't allow the public to believe you can bounce back from near-death Covid.

@DrSarahJarvis @linseypop Incensed at seeing your outburst on JV this morning. It made me suspect that you are almost resentful of the fact that the PM should have recovered so quickly and had not suffered enough to qualify for ITU treatment - a shameful characteristic for a GP to profer.

@paulpro44 @linseypop Then you suspect entirely wrongly. What worries me enormously is that suggesting the PM 'almost died' and then is back to normal within weeks does a huge disservice to the thousands who will take months or years to recover

@DrSarahJarvis @linseypop ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Totally agree with Dr Sarah. Also thankful you made the case about holidays. I'm incredibly frustrated with people claiming to 'need' holidays when people with family in other countries are staying home to protect them.

@DrSarahJarvis @linseypop Listen to @MichaelRosenYes describe having legs like cardboard tubes full of porridge after 7 weeks in ICU. @DrSarahJarvis description of PM's recovery was accurate. Personally I'd have sniggereded that his ability to do one press up; but Sarah is nicer than me.

@DrSarahJarvis @linseypop The oft repeated โ€˜it was touch and goโ€™ for the PM quote wasnโ€™t in reference to his survival and referred only to it being touch and go if he needed a ventilator or not; he didnโ€™t. So he was poorly but not on deathโ€™s door - barely on the path to the door.

@DrSarahJarvis @linseypop "I'm actually appalled", is the default opener for a bit of faux outrage. It's usually followed by a denial of their political sympathies. Keep on speaking truth to power @DrSarahJarvis and delivering unvarnished, robust medical advice ๐Ÿ‘

@DrSarahJarvis @linseypop Wow. I never expected you to be so obviously disparaging about our Prime Minister. Some people have a terrible time, especially those with long ICU stays, and some recover more quickly. Everyoneโ€™s different, doctor. You of all people should know that. Surprised and disappointed.
