It's another audio-only remnant, seeming to consist of some spies wandering around a particularly dangerous garden centre, whilst aliens from various galaxies plot with the Daleks to destroy the Earth. And none of the regulars are in it, which makes it a bit weird.

Underneath all the terrible acting (not the regulars, they're fine as always) there is something clever about our pre-conceptions trying to get through (the pretty aliens turn out to be evil; the hideous ones turn out to be good). But this really is awful.

Galaxy 4. A doomed planet.Drahvin versus Rill, Magma.Will kill them all now. #DoctorWho #HaikWho.Erm . only one episode of this still remains, and it seems to find the Doctor and friends wandering around the Blue Peter studio.

Peter Butterworth is brilliant as the Monk, a character determined to change history. He seems to genuinely think he's doing this for the right reasons, though is also determined to have some fun too.

Anyway, that means it's a tale set in Earth's history - 1066 Northumbria in this case - but with some alien involvement. And great involvement it is - our first guest Time Lord, although that term is still a few years away from being introduced.

They've actually felt like real people, not just for a TV show of that period, but for any series. They were really well written and acted. They will be missed!.

Oh well. My Nation will have to limit himself to just the occasional mansion and yacht I suppose. The story sees the departure of Ian and Barbara, and that's a real shame because they have been phenomenal.

And it works rather better than the Doctor's, allowing them to chase our dynamic heroes back and forth across the universe until their final climactic battle on the planet Mechanus, where the Mechanoids prove they won't be the next great merchandising success of the series.
