A middle-aged incarcerated patient sheepishly apologized to me today: "We black guys just don't like going to the doctor." I apologized to him for our system of institutional racism, for not making it easy, welcoming, affordable or equitable. We have so much work to do.

Guys in general hate going to the doctor but he may be in a tighter spot & probably feels more uncomfortable because of his incarceration. May God make it easier for him.

I have worked in prisons, jails -private & goverment run. Couldn't tolerate seeing so many Black/Latina men locked away nor constant fighting to provide adequate healthcare. Institutional racism at its best

I made my husband go to his first physical since grade school & he found out he could have been one of those men who drop dead He had a genetic type extremely high triglyceride & choesterol prob Now he has to go every six months to drs
