I took the poverty level calc and converted it to income for easier reference. This is how Ohio is using public tax dollars to subsidize private education and it's not for poor kids. Their formula sends us about $2,550 per student. Avg household income is $93,865.

Great job girls!.
JV and Varsity hit the road early this morning to Marlington HS and both come away with victories! The freshman split today with a loss to Padua and a win against Walsh Jesuit. Next up: on the road against Amherst on Tuesday. Go Bulldogs!

Ohio’s current accountability system would need a lobotomy…also very much needed. You’d also need to replace the elected officials currently serving on the committees bc they don’t know jack squat about how to measure school effectiveness. #BenefitsBasedAccountability.

You’d need to rethink Ohio’s accountability system to do this, which is a great idea. You could base it on benefits that Ohioans want from their public schools and create an evidence gathering system to account for it.

In addition, using test scores as the metric is a very bad idea bc it’ll be a catalyst for cheating and curriculum shrinkage (I.e. teaching to the test). Value added won’t help bc it has a built in system of winners and losers. It would need to be competency based.

Interesting take. A few things—the Ohio government doesn’t fund us adequately so the burden for merit pay falls to the local tax payers, thus the disparity in educator pay. Add collective bargaining and it gets further complicated.
