I'm still a bit overwhelmed by this honour, so I'm going to do a proper thank you thread when I'm a bit more composed. But thank you to everyone who has passed on your congrats, they have all meant a great deal to me and are making it a very special moment for me (and my mum!).

So, I was trying my best to write new text for work to celebrate the #Lionesses win, popped on @BBCRadio3 to help, and didn't realize they were doing a Celebratory Mixtape, until the orchestral version of Sweet Caroline. Now I'm in bits and I've still got text to write!

Another post to celebrate #England meeting #Wales in #WEURO2025 today. It would have been a special day for the late Lioness Sylvia Gore MBE, who managed Wales, 1982 -1989. Sue Lopez writes that she stepped down after spending £5,000 of her own money to support the team.

This cap in her collection suggests that she had been assisting the FAW prior to the 95/96 season. Sue was manager for the 1995/96 season before stepping down - she was offered a full-time post at the Hampshire FA, provided she gave up the Welsh job.

This team photo is of the Welsh side that lost 2-0 to Belgium on 18 Nov 1995. The FAW could only pay Sue on a part-time basis and she faced big challenges - English clubs often didn't release players for training days, and some Welsh players didn't even know the team existed.
