Counseling isn’t so much about helping someone move from Point A to Point B as it is helping them see the story that got them to Point A and the slow and deep journey it takes to get to Point B.

“Mutual Burdensomeness”. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. - Gal. 6:2

Learning to walk at the Lord’s pace, not ours, is a lifelong lesson. Usually it means slowing down to see what he sees and notice what he notices.

Meet me, O Christ, in the stillness of this morning. Move me, O Spirit, to quiet my heart. Mend me, O Father, from yesterday’s harms. Let me enter this new day, aware of my need, and awake to your grace, O Lord. Amen. -Every Moment Holy.

Sometimes we feel like we’re all alone—not knowing where we’re headed in life and whether we’ll make it through. But we have a Shepherd who is:. -Ahead of us leading the way.-With us in the darkest valley.-Behind us pursuing us w/his goodness all of our days.

The mind can be a very lonely place. This is why the psalms are so helpful. In reading them we find that we’re not alone, and we’re not the first to feel this way. Even Jesus leaned on the psalms in times of loneliness and distress. May we do the same.

Labor Day is a reminder to step back and reflect on your calling, rhythms of work, and need for rest. We love walking pastors and ministry leaders through sabbaticals. Here’s a simple framework 👇

Jesus often slowed down to really see and love those that felt small, alone & forgotten. His heart was drawn to the ones we often ignore or overlook. May God give us greater compassion to love those who were “picked last” in life. We all want to be wanted.

Anxiety is a doorway to Jesus’ tenderness and strength if we’re willing to admit our need for help.

When we feel delight in our hearts for our children, we’re getting a little glimpse into our heavenly Father’s deep delight and love for us as his sons and daughters.

Sometimes God’s holiness is felt when we’re overwhelmed with his goodness. Contemplate the wonder of how much he has done to take care of you—how he has seen you and heard you and responded to your cries for help. What is man that you are mindful of him?!.

“Be still and know that I am God.” -Ps. 46:10. You can relax, He’s been here before. You can let go, He can handle this. You can cease striving, He knows what He’s doing.

When everything around me is moving, You are the One who never moves. And you are on higher ground. You are above the waves of change and pressures below. You see things from your vantage point. “So lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.” -Ps. 61:2.

Take a walk today and look up at the sky. Be reminded of the promise that Jesus will one day be coming on the clouds and every eye will see him (Rev. 1:7), and when the trumpet sounds we will meet him in the air and be with him forever (1 Thess. 4:17).

In general, men find it hard to be vulnerable until they’ve been broken by their sin and suffering and have found another humble man who can identify with their brokenness. Let’s be those men for other men.

Transitions can be exciting and filled with hope, and at other times, feel uncertain and filled with fear. They require us to hold things loosely and be patient with ourselves and others as we adjust to new realities around us. Give grace, space and time.

“By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me. ”.-Ps. 42:8 . Just like the Israelites, we follow the pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night. But our pillar is a Person and we see him in the psalms.

We often stay stuck because we think knowledge is the answer when what we need most is being known. Listening to a podcast is good but can’t replace being listened to by a real person.

*break through to new life…but we also may feel like we can breathe again when we confess our sin to another brother or sister in Christ.
