the real design debate today. It’s not graphics vs realism, or skill vs luck. It’s metrics vs player experience. Are we making games that players love, or just games that keep players busy?

The best games still get it right. They respect your time, teach through play, and make you actually want to play. Those are the games we talk about, and hype up in communities like @GGtv_community Fun first. Nb: I never said GENSHIN IMPACT isn’t one of the best 🤣

To be honest i get it that studios aren’t trying to ruin our fun. Games cost millions, teams need servers running, and keeping players engaged keeps the project alive. But still… it’s frustrating when your time and excitement feel like i am a filling logs.

Genshin Impact isn’t a bad game, everyone knows that and I love exploring Teyvat. But after a few hours, it starts to feel like work. Daily commissions, resin limits, timed events instead of fun, I feel like I’m ticking boxes. it mostly keeps me busy, not entertaining sometimes.

Open-world design is where this shows up the most. Maps keep getting bigger, but meaningful moments are spread thinner. More space, more tasks, less intention.

Lots of modern game progression systems are not designed to feel good, they are designed to feel endless. Games XP are also stretched on purpose which makes players like me to feel less accomplished and managed.

The word “Optimization” actually sounds smart on paper especially to the developers,because this will generate more engagement, Longer playtime, Better retention. But when every system is built around this criteria’s or objectives in mind , fun becomes secondary.

Actually Game design didn’t get worse, It got optimized, and players are the ones suffering it. many new games feels like big work after a few hours The problem now isn’t graphics or difficulty, most are just designed to keep you busy instead of having fun
