One of my ancestors was a ship carver & gilder so I like to think he carved things like this. Interesting to find out about the North Yorkshire connection via Mousey Thompson.
The changing shape of a North Shields icon. The wooden dolly in Northumberland Square was carved by Robert Thompson's Craftsmen Ltd in 1958 in the style of a Dolly carved by Miss Spence the daughter of the Mayor in 1905. Before that dolly was a very different figure
