As a native Detroiter, I know what it's like to not be able to afford bottled water, and instead have to turn on the tap & pray for “clean” water. I won't stop fighting until every resident has access to clean and affordable water—for my family, your family, & every Michigander.

We deserve better, from Detroit to Downriver and across our state. We deserve to have access to drinking water that is clean, safe, and affordable. We deserve to have Representatives that will stand up for our environment and our public health.

We live in one of the richest countries in the world—so why can't every single American access clean water? The fact that so many—including our community members here in Detroit, Wyandotte, & beyond—are STILL stuck with unsafe, contaminated tap water is absolutely unacceptable.

From Flint to Detroit to Downriver, Michiganders have been fighting for DECADES to get our old lead and wooden pipes replaced, our reservoir and storage systems maintained, and industrial and environmental pollution out of our water sources. And our water still isn't clean.

Today I walked in the Wyandotte parade w/ Baby Donavan & Baby Robert as well as Downriver's own State Sen. Darrin Camilleri 🙌🏾. The boys had such a great time but when Baby Robert saw his big bro eating a snack w/o him he tried to leap out of my arms because he wanted some too 😂

I love our country. I believe in a version of it where the Reps we send to D.C. truly fight for us: not the wealthy & the well-connected, but working people. I'll never forget my roots & what matters most: my family, your family, and all of us coming together. We deserve better!.

We deserve a country where each of us truly does have equal access to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness — and where legislators aren’t stripping those rights from working-class, Black, immigrant, or LGBTQ+ communities, communities of color, and more.

As Republicans in Washington D.C. yesterday voted to kick 17 million people off Medicaid & starve 41 million by denying them food assistance, we need to stop greedy Republicans from robbing working families to benefit billionaires — and we need Democrats who will fight harder.

Good afternoon everyone, and happy Independence Day! . I have been reflecting a great deal on the meaning of Independence Day this past week. On the promises our country made to its citizens at the time of its founding, and how we are living up to those promises.

Which bills we pass and which bills we don’t is a matter of life and death for our communities here across the Mighty 13th—who eats and who goes hungry, who can afford lifesaving medical care & who cannot. I will never forget where I come from because I lived it.

It is a slap in the face to the millions of working-class Americans who are already struggling to get by. We deserve better than being insulted & abandoned by our government. And we deserve a Rep. who can bring everyone together to help stop it—like I would if I was in Congress.

The bill Republicans pushed thru to appease their ultra-rich donors will be the #1 biggest wealth transfer from the working class to the top 1% in U.S. history. And all across the Mighty 13th—from Detroit to Downriver & beyond—it will be communities like ours paying the price. .

The very programs thousands of Michiganders will lose access to if this bill passes saved my life as a child. Now future generations won't have that same support, and it breaks my heart. These programs are not just line items in a bill. They are life and death for us.

If I was in Congress right now, I would vote NO on this bill, and I would fight day and night against it — because I know firsthand what happens when communities like ours are victim to cruel budget cuts like this.

And all of this just so the millionaires and billionaires who sat front row at Trump's inauguration — and donated heavily to his campaign — can get richer and richer, while the rest of us suffer? It is inexcusable. We deserve better.

Taking Michiganders' access to health care away via Medicaid cuts; taking Michiganders' access to groceries away via SNAP and EBT cuts; taking seniors' financial security away via Social Security cuts — every single one of these changes will hurt our community, deeply.
