I got my 1st dose of the Covid-19 vaccine while ovulating. By the time I got my 2nd, I was pregnant. Then came time for my booster, which I got while breastfeeding. I have prioritized safety & protection in this beautiful journey. Howās it worked out for me? Take a look š š

Thank you so much!
Hero worship for a pediatrician colleague who has found her voice to speak for our children. Youāre a rock star ā¦@DoctoraEdithā©! Youāve inspired me to pitch ā¦@RTDSchapiroā© on a #beyfortis story.

10. Marriage takes work, kindness & empathy goes a long way. Your partner is your teammate in this crazy thing called parenting. Turning on each other can make things harder for everyone.

9. Co-parenting roles can be renegotiated at any time. Early on I took most (though not all) of the night time duties because William breastfed at night for a while. Once I weaned him off, an examination of the roles and re-distribution of the load followed.

8. As annoying as it is, you really have to be prescriptive in how you ask for help. To get personal, only my mom and sister have known exactly how to help me without me having to explain. Everyone else still helps but I have to be very clear on whatās helpful to me.

7. While I donāt internalize judgement and donāt go down lunacy rabbit holes, I still have feelings about these things when they happen. Thatās okay. Iāve found outlets and people for those feelings.

6. Sometimes judgement turns into straight up lunacy. I donāt have to follow people down lunacy rabbit holes. Moms know what I mean by lunacy. The comments we can get areā¦.wellā¦lunacy sometimes. I call them what they are in my mind. I avoid engaging.

5. There will always be judgement. When others see you parenting differently, they WILL judge you. Your work (and mine) is not to internalize that judgement.

4. At workā¦if they want me and my talents and skills, they need to support the full me. The mom who does pick up and makes dinner and puts to bed, as well as the passionate pediatrician. Iām a package, and I am worth it. This has been the case with my current employer.

3. Being imperfect in front of my child gives him permission to be imperfect too. Some days Iām tired, some days Iām grumpy, some days I sing and play lots, other days I donāt have it in me. I donāt have to force myself to be perfect. And freeing myself frees him too.

2. Showing up everyday as the full me means my child gets to see a nuanced, (though imperfect), happier woman. And thatās a good thing. One day heāll brag about his doctor mom. One day heāll complain about her. Iām okay with it all.

A few lessons on #motherhood Iāve learned the hard way- a š§µ 1. āMomā was added to my identity. I never stopped being a woman, a doctor, a communicator, a wife, a friend, a freakinā hustler. I donāt have to apologize for being the full me. Not to myself, not to anyone else.

EXCUSE ME- who do I need to talk to for New York City public schools to STOP requiring kids to be seen by a doctor and be cleared for every little minor symptom. Itās a huge problem! Kids just sit at home and parents miss work. Help me out- how do we change this?

The flu can be a very big deal for children. It is not just a "bad cold." I count the ways it can hurt children and detail the story of one sweet little girl in my piece for CNN https://t.co/awhUUYGn8R

Dear parents, As the amoxicillin shortage continues, please DO NOT: - Give "old" left over antibiotics from a prior illness. - Change the dosing or the duration of treatment - Switch to a different medication without the help of your doctor We are here to help you, reach out!

Families sometimes tell me they want to wait to vaccinate their babies until theyāre ābiggerā Brief PSA - THE POINT of vaccinating young is to give babies protection when they need it most, ie when an illness would pose the most danger. But yes, doing it later is better than not
