A piece on my visit to @ErithTown and their pre-season game against @Withamtownfc - separate from the stuff for my book draft. A good game, finished 2-2. Good luck to both in their campaigns.

Teddy Sheringham because we all knew how bloody good he was - so although inevitable, still gutted. Tim Cahill - again, see above, but for £2m. And Theo calls himself a businessman.
Today's question:. Which player did your club sell and you were gutted about them leaving?. Perhaps they were your hero. Or the club sold too cheaply. Or something else. Remember, it has to be a transfer made BEFORE 2009. Your turn.

Hey, @grok, who was the most famous person to visit my profile? It doesn't need to be a mutual, don't tag them, just say who it was.

I think the club are doing a lot of good things with the social media side, but that font is atrocious. I struggled to read half of it. Good luck today. Although I have a history, it will always be a club that meant a lot to me.

It's almost undeniable that test cricket is not up to the standards of the past. A lot of players prefer the T20 stuff, leading to less depth. Teams don't even take tests seriously and don't schedule matches. So not sure why @KP24 is getting such stick for that view?.

@ErithTown And of course @OBoyleSteve (a much reduced version), Leggy and @agradley1 from the Phoenix days, now part of @ErithTown firmament. Nice also to see @RossiCraig10 @dexterpeter11 and Bertie Valler as well. Lots of background for the book. Pity the ground is a way from the station.

Brilliant to meet the @ErithTown owner, Mark, who is a real character, as well as the man who I didn't get the name of who offered me a leg of lamb and gave me some club history in the second half. Really good people.

A few reflections on last night @ErithTown v @Withamtownfc - lots of information and background for the book, but a lot more that might have been needing legal counsel! Spiky game and Witham look really dangerous going forward. Erith need to get out of the traps quicker.

He has a point. Give me an opener in this era that replaces any of the regular openers for India, Australia, England and South Africa for starters from that time.
Don’t shout at me but batting these days is way easier than 20/25 years ago! Probably twice as hard back then! . Waqar, Shoaib, Akram, Mushtaq, Kumble, Srinath, Harbhajan, Donald, Pollock, Klusener, Gough, McGrath, Lee, Warne, Gillespie, Bond, Vettori, Cairns, Vaas, Murali,.

Nice evening @ErithTown and got some nice background for the book. After a horrible day, nice to be with some friendly faces. Game v @Withamtownfc .

I happen to think Kallis was the greatest cricketer of his generation, but he was also pretty dull as a batsman. No bad thing. It is what makes cricket great. Stokes, whatever you say, is box office entertainment. Don't demean either's achievements.
Jacques Kallis scored more test centuries after turning 34 than Ben stokes has in his entire career.
