This policy marks a bold step toward promoting transparency, strengthening our legal frameworks and ensuring public information is readily accessible to all. We remain committed to promoting access to information as a cornerstone of open, transparent and accountable governance.

I was pleased to join our Chairperson, Mr. Charles Dulo and CEO, Ms. Mercy Wambua in presenting the draft National Policy on Access to Information to the Cabinet Secretary for ICT & Digital Economy, Hon. William Kabogo. Also present was the Principal Secretary, Eng. John Tanui.

We reflected on progress such as the establishment of ATI desks, while acknowledging persistent barriers—especially for women, PwDs, and marginalized groups. I underscored that access to information is a vital tool for civic participation and institutional accountability.

The event was graced by Hon. Judith Pareno, Principal Secretary, State Department for Justice, as the chief guest, alongside key development partners who reiterated their commitment to advancing transparency, accountability, and open governance in Kenya.

Yesterday, I attended the launch of the inaugural national report on the implementation of the Access to Information Act, 2016 held at Sarova Stanley, Nairobi. The report, released by the Commission on Administrative Justice, assessed 139 public institutions across 21 counties.

Today, I joined the Commission fraternity, family and friends at All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi, for the requiem mass of the late Bob Harun Munoko, our Chief Compliance Officer.

This engagement marked the official launch of baseline survey activities in Bungoma County under KDSP II. The purpose is to assess grievance redress mechanisms and social safeguards at the county level. Together we can advance transparency, accountability and good governance.

I reiterated @KenyasOmbudsman commitment to developing a robust Grievance Redress Mechanism policy and domesticating the Access to Information model law. A meaningful step forward for governance in Busia under KDSP II.

...where we held fruitful discussions on enhancing redress mechanisms and transparency in governance. We also engaged the Deputy County Commissioner, Madam Sabulei, on ways to continue supporting improved accountability and service delivery in the county.
