Today we remembered those who were killed, or who's lives were changed as a result of the Second World War. 80 years ago, the war came to an end with the Japanese surrender in the Far East. #WorcestershireHour

The Regimental Museums will close so it can be moved to the Commandery. The Museum collections grew with items from the Regiment and veterans. This is what makes Regimental Museums special. Sadly only a small percentage of objects can be displayed, but everything is cared for

As we move towards #VJDay80 we decided our #WorcesterWednesday should look at one veteran who lived in Worcester called Fred Seiker. He was held captive during the war and witnessed the brutality of being a POW to the Japanese.

What a great day to be delivering the Tudor Story walk. Today, in 1575, Queen Elizabeth I arrived in Worcester and was greeted by hundreds of cheering Worcester folk. By the end of her visit the City would have a new coat of arms displaying the Black Pear. #WorcestershireHour

80 years ago today, Nagasaki was hit by a bomb similar to the one dropped on Hiroshima a few days earlier. These two bombs would help bring the Second World War to an end. These two bombs would show the world the horror of modern warfare.

The Soldier Gallery in Worcester Museum closes at the end of the month. In the 1930s the Regimental Museums were starting out as private Museums in Barracks such as Norton. This took artefacts from Regimental Messes, and allowed new recruits to see the history of their Regiment.
