Remember when you used the @rythmfm Discord bot to share music with your friends, only for the bot to be shut down in September 2021 after receiving a C&D letter from YouTube? Well, you better grab your friends, because Rythm is coming back as the first third-party VC activity.

Pronouns rollout has now been bumped to 20% of all users.
Nearly a year and a half after discontinuing development of the Pronouns profile field, Discord is now starting to roll it out to users. Currently, 1% of all Discord users have access to it, but it seems that the rollout is gradually increasing.

It's official. Discord is dropping Discord tags in favor of usernames and display names. Read the official announcement in their blogpost:
Discord seems to have plans to move from Discord tags (Username#1234) to just usernames. Additionally you'll be able to set a global display name. This change is likely being made to align more with other social media services like Twitter, Instagram or TikTok.

Discord seems to have drastically changed the way the rollout works, as we have received multiple reports of people who meet the current requirements but are unable to claim their name, and other users who do not meet the requirements seem to be able to claim their name just fine.
Wave #10 of the rollout has begun, and Nitro users who registered in December 2022 and regular users who registered in January 2017 will be able to claim their username. Still nothing new regarding the Nitro rollout issues 😔.

We have been informed that Elon Musk's planned acquisition of Discord did not proceed as expected in the final stages. According to reports, the deal fell through because Musk reallocated funds originally earmarked for the acquisition to personal spending on ketamine.
BREAKING: Elon Musk has acquired Discord and plans to rebrand it as "xD". Nitro subscribers will soon be migrated to X Premium and gain access to Grok, which will be deeply integrated into the platform. Below is an exclusive look at early concept art showcasing Musk’s vision.

Discord's virtual currency now has a name: Orbs. You can earn them by completing quests and use them to purchase "exclusive orb rewards" in the store.
Discord may have plans to introduce its own virtual currency that can be earned by completing quests and possibly other things like gifting Nitro, boosting a server, and being a long-term Nitro subscriber. These coins are currently meant to be spent in the avatar decoration shop.

This is what DM wallpapers will look like!.At the moment it looks like you will only be able to select premade wallpapers, not upload your own.
Likely inspired by Instagram, Discord is adding the ability for Discord Nitro subscribers to add wallpapers to their DMs, though it's not yet known what those wallpapers will look like.

Wave #11 of the rollout has begun, and regular users who registered in October 2017 will be able to claim their username. The Nitro user rollout appears to have stalled and is currently stuck in December 2015, but some newer Nitro users appear to have been randomly granted access.

Just when we thought we had things figured out, Discord came around and DOUBLED the extension for both Nitro users and regular users. Nitro users up to October 2017 and regular users up to January 2016 can now set a new username. Restart your client if you meet the requirements!.

Discord has just completely removed the Guild feature and moved all existing guilds to regular servers. This also means that Guild Tags from these servers will no longer be displayed.
Discord has announced that the guild feature will be phased out in the coming weeks, but they are working on releasing the member application feature to all servers.

Now February 2017 for Nitro users and November 2015 for regular users. The rollout for regular users appears to be extended by 1 month per wave. Also, to clear up any confusion about our previous tweet: The rollout extension for Nitro users is 4 months per wave.

This has now been bumped up to September 2016. You will need to restart your application to get the prompt. If you want to be notified immediately of any future changes, as we won't post on Twitter until we've finalized the details, join our server:
Discord has begun rolling out access to the username update for 2015 users who have a Discord Nitro subscription active since before March 1, 2023, as well as 2015 users who are Early Supporters (purchased Discord Nitro before October 10, 2018).

Now extended to October 2016. The previous rollout was actually only through June 2016, so it looks like Discord is extending the rollout by two quarters (8 months total) for Nitro users every day.

Apologies for the lack of updates, but Twitter gave us some trouble logging into our account. We are now in wave #17, which allows users who signed up in August 2019 to choose a new username. Nitro users are still stuck in December 2022, not December 2015 as previously stated 😅.

You can now also verify your domain by creating a "discord" file in the ".well-known" directory of your website!
Discord is adding the ability to add domains as profile connections! To prove ownership of the domain you want to add, you'll simply need to add a TXT DNS record to the domain that returns some text generated by Discord.
