We now have a Discord server with a custom bot that automatically posts about new stuff that was added to the Discord client like new text, experiments and soon even more:
We will still post about bigger things on this Twitter account as before though.
Trying to upload your latest creation to Discord but your creation's file size is just the above the 10MB file size limit that non-Nitro users have? It may just be your lucky day as Discord is testing around with increasing the max file upload size for non-Nitro users to 25MB!
Remember when you used the
@rythmfm
Discord bot to share music with your friends, only for the bot to be shut down in September 2021 after receiving a C&D letter from YouTube? Well, you better grab your friends, because Rythm is coming back as the first third-party VC activity.

Discord seems to have plans to move from Discord tags (Username

) to just usernames. Additionally you'll be able to set a global display name. This change is likely being made to align more with other social media services like Twitter, Instagram or TikTok.
Discord has begun rolling out access to the username update for 2015 users who have a Discord Nitro subscription active since before March 1, 2023, as well as 2015 users who are Early Supporters (purchased Discord Nitro before October 10, 2018).
Discord seems to have drastically changed the way the rollout works, as we have received multiple reports of people who meet the current requirements but are unable to claim their name, and other users who do not meet the requirements seem to be able to claim their name just fine

The first part of Discord's username update has been rolled out. While you can't set an @handle yet, you can now already set a display name! If you don't see it, try restarting your app and make sure you have the latest version if you're on mobile!

A few hours ago, Discord disabled a large number of accounts that were found to have attempted to automate the API endpoint for setting a username and display name. Affected accounts have been reinstated and users should have received a password reset email to regain access.

Apologies for the lack of updates, but Twitter gave us some trouble logging into our account. We are now in wave

It is believed that Discord did this as a 'warning shot' to people not to try and snipe rare usernames automatically. While Discord has reversed the action this time around, it's unlikely that they will do so in the future if you continue to try and automate the API.
