RESOLVED. If I believe that God has spoken with clarity and finality in his word, I should act like it in my doctrine and in my practice. In short, I should reflect my confidence in the God who has spoken in every area of my life.

Lot of wisdom here. I’ve become fairly skeptical about the phrase “do life together” because more times than not it’s just putting families on a treadmill pace they can’t possibly maintain. It’s ok to not have constant programming, in fact I think it might be better 🤷
Is there a more well-intended yet spiritually unhelpful phrase in local church ministry than, “Do life together?” Especially for saints with growing families, full calendars, and many commitments, it can create unreasonable expectations that lead to constantly feeling

What is the perfect 🎶 playlist for butchering? Well according to my teenagers it’s 60s-70s rock ballads 🤣 Hey no complaints from me
Yesterday the slaughter man came, so today we’re butchering up our hogs. Then we’ll start the process of making ham, bacon, smoked ham hocks, sausage and guanciale. I’m not so sure life on a farm is pretty laid back, but it is a good life.

This only works if the government demands adherence to a state church to the exclusion of all others. Different states able to set up particular denoms. Presbyterianism would definitely be suppressed in as many as it would be law. Now we’re back in the days of the puritans 🤷

Been saying this for a while, modern denominations look more like voluntary associations than they do their historical forms. And considering that state churches aren’t coming back anytime soon, Congregationalism has become the norm.
Presbyterianism without a state church is a voluntary association of churches & ministers, with certain powers granted to the presbytery. The PCA did away with the old practice of the presbytery owning a church's building. That leaves the discipline of ministers as the primary

No, I’m really not interested in a ‘big tent’ “There is nothing more unreasonable than to preach the gospel with our lips & then combat the gospel through the funds we contribute to agencies & boards, or votes we we cast in church councils or courts” Quotes by J Gresham Machen

The snowman tie did in fact make his annual appearance yesterday. It’s funny because buttoned you can hardly see it, jokes on the kids. But then I had to meet with a baptism candidate and felt really foolish wearing such a silly tie. So things even out 🤣
The kids: daddy, will you please please wear your snowman tie tomorrow?!? (They only call me daddy when they want something 🤣) Me: hmm I don’t know, maybe. (I try to only wear respectful non-distracting clothing for worship) But perhaps the ☃️ will make its yearly appearance

‘Twas me. My point of course is that you make it integral to your identity (as few single Christians I’ve ever met have done) and then turn around and get huffy when the majority of married people just sort of assume that’s the norm.
Was just described by a critic on here as a “confessed single person”. I guess that is as opposed to a non-confessed single person? 😂

It should surprise no one that a confessed single person (who’s a bit sensitive about it at the same time) would completely misunderstand the point here. The point is to never allow even the appearance of impropriety. Which in reality protects all parties from gossip or slander.
It appears to be 'Billy Graham Rule' time again in the Christian Twitter liturgical calendar. So here is one I prepared earlier. Link in next comments.

I’m gonna screenshot because he doesn’t deserve any more publicity. And at this point, it’s pretty obvious the entire OP was just bait I’m gonna make it real simple for you, putting words in the mouth of Christ is sinful Leighton. Full stop. End of discussion.

Recently I was asked by new couple at church why, if we’re baptist, we’re not part of the SBC? It was a whole lot bigger conversation, trust me on that But the short answer, why join an association to help with your accountability if they refuse ever hold anyone accountable? 🤷

Few men have had quite the ability for a turn of phrase as that of Luther.

“Brilliantly engaging public communicator” Treating the preaching of the word of God just like any other “talk”, replete with all the contemporary methods, does nothing more than turn it into a Ted talk. With all of the corresponding authority and power, or lack there of.
A pastor who refuses to humbly consider advice from a brilliantly engaging public communicator, about how human beings process and retain spoken content, simply because the person offering said advice is not a pastor (ignoring the fact that they have sat under the teaching of
