A key to lifelong learning is being as eager to hear "you're wrong" as "you're right." Small minds crave validation. They surround themselves with people who share their convictions. Great minds prize discovery. They gravitate toward people who stretch their thinking.

Co-designing a course with students may sound unconventional. But that’s the heart of participative teaching, an approach that empowers students to take ownership over their learning. https://t.co/CCYHFmYggz

The best way to find yourself isn't looking inward to see who you are. It's looking outward to see who you admire. Role models help you identify what you value and who you want to become. Trying on different possible selves is a route to authenticity. https://t.co/7DCpmk9GBy

Timed tests don’t measure what students know. They assess how students perform under stress. Data: tests under time pressure underestimate the abilities of girls—especially in math, where test anxiety is high. If students can't finish a test, make it shorter or give more time.

How do we transform education? Well, we have to MOVE people. Systems don't change, people do. Change is more emotional than technical.

It is easier to be a student in a teacher-centered classroom and much more challenging to be a student in a student-centered classroom. And that's a good thing! #StudentLed

One of the most inspiring things about today's microschool movement is that it is creating such joyful learning spaces for children and teens. A consistent characteristic in microschools I've visited across the U.S. is how happy the students are & how eager they are to be there.

Once you discover that there are other, often better ways to be educated, and that children can experience true happiness in learning, there is no going back to the status quo.

It’s been an honor to work and learn with @parrymm and the educators at Embark Education to intentionally plan structures and routines for Ss to meaningfully reflect on their learning, their growth and who are they as humans.
